Post-Surgical Aspiration Training – Half Day (Medics Only)
Specialized training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and comprehensive post-operative care techniques.
Post-Surgical Aspiration Training – Half Day
This in-depth training day is designed to introduce practitioners to the safe and effective use of aspiration techniques following liposuction and related procedures.
Key Learning Areas:
🔹 Introduction to Post-Surgical Aspiration
Understand the purpose of aspiration, especially in managing fluid retention (seromas, hematomas) after liposuction and other surgical procedures.
🔹 Anatomy & Fluid Accumulation
Learn how tissue trauma and surgery affect fluid buildup. Distinguish between seromas, hematomas, lymphatic fluid, and inflammatory exudate.
🔹 Assessment & Diagnosis
Master palpation and visual cues to detect fluid pockets. Know when to perform aspiration and when to refer to medical professionals.
🔹 Aspiration Techniques
Gain hands-on understanding of manual aspiration methods, using sterile syringes and cannulas for both open-drain and closed-incision cases. Learn patient positioning and drainage angles.
🔹 Tools & Safety Protocols
Review proper setup, aseptic technique, infection control, and how to document aspirated volume and fluid characteristics.
🔹 Post-Aspiration Care
Learn essential aftercare, including wound management, bandaging, and how to support the lymphatic system through coordinated MLD sessions.
🔹 Contraindications & Risk Management
Identify situations where aspiration should not be performed, and understand how to minimize complications.
🔹 Client Communication & Documentation
Develop skills in client education, informed consent, accurate note-taking, and managing legal boundaries in non-medical settings.
🔹 Hands-On Practice (Optional)
Practice aspiration techniques on models, observe real cases (where permitted), and receive instructor feedback on technique and safety.
This training is ideal for professionals in post-operative care who want to expand their scope responsibly with a high-standard, safety-led approach to post-surgical aspiration.
